izOReL (Aurélien Rotureau) was born in France in 1979. izOReL studied electro-acoustic composition at the Conservatory of Bordeaux (France), where he won first prize in 2001. During the same period, he also graduated in Language sciences at the University of Bordeaux.
From 1999 to 2002, he started composing music for dance, theatre, short films and performed with different experimental music bands.
In 2003, he settled in Montreal, Canada, and created a more singular musical universe by recording and mixing sound samples captured in his daily life.
From 2004 to 2005, he lived in Brussels (Belgium) where he experimented music and dance in real time by using the sound as a physical phenomena. There, he released the album AMODIO with label METAK, using unusual sounds, from insects to household appliances. “Daily sounds on deep and fragile melodies. Calls for communication”, according to Rockdeluxe magazine.
In 2005, together with other artists such as the french musician MAOTIK, he created the collective MATEKEMATA.
In 2006, this collective settled for a residency in Córdoba (Argentina) and collaborated with the chilean netlabel Pueblo Nuevo.
Back in Europe in 2007, he moved to Barcelona (Spain) and started composing music for the fire installations of the French company CARABOSSE, which he has been performing live up until now during their worldwide shows.
From this collaboration, two albums were released : the first one in 2008 with the netlabel PN and the second one was recorded live during 2 years of touring.
From 2008 to 2015, he collaborated with the vertical dance company DELREVES, by composing and perfoming live for their show. He also participated in the creation of the show “Articulo 13”, which was the result of the partnership between CARABOSSE and the mexicans of TEATRO LINEA DE SOMBRA.
In 2013, he participated in the final event held in relation with the French Year in Vietnam, composing the music of a light-show by SPECTACULAIRES (LES ALLUMEURS D’IMAGES), and finally performing it live in front of half a million spectators, accompanied by the singer LE CAT TRONG LY. This event led him to compose and perform the music for New Year’s Eve 2014 and 2015 in Rennes (France).
During 2015, working in his own recording studio in Barcelona, izOReL got back to his roots by creating an electro-acoustic system for “Hôtel Particulier”, a newly created show by CARABOSSE.
In 2016, following a request from the cultural capital San Sebastian 2016, he composed the music of 10 documentary films for a project called Eurotransit.
Nowadays, izOReL is aiming to enrich his music universe through the collaboration with other musicians such as the icelandic cellist Björt Rúnarsdóttir and the french drummer BamBam.
